FAMOUS DUDE
Mary and I went to see Colin Quinn at the DC Imrov last night. When we arrived (about 10 minutes early) we were walking down the 2 flights of stairs and someone was behind us… I had a feeling it was Colin Quinn, so I turned around and sure enough it was. It was so weird seeing someone that you know from SNL and comedy central in real life, 2 ft. away from you. SO at first I acted like I didn’t recognizes him, and then, when we got to the bottom of the stairs I said “HEY, its Colin Quinn!” and he was really nice, he shook my hand and talked to me and Mary for a minute. He said that he would make us laugh… it was cool, because most bigtime comedians I’ve seen (all in podunk Lansing, Michigan) all were assholes, and this dude was really cool.
SQUID SPIT LIVE
Ok Mario Van Peeples… Squid Spit is now LIVE. Not 100% complete, but all I have to do now is catch errors, misspellings and create the contact page and its ALL good. Soon I will be launching the marketing behind Squid Spit to let people know about the product/website and hopefully it gets a good response.
LAUNDRY CONSPIRACY
What the dealio? Are we running short on quarters in this country or what? I had to go to 5 grocery stores last night and put up with the eye-roll from every “checkout lane technician” just to get $5 in quarters… It’s a conspiracy to keep my clothes dirty I tell ya. Ahhh how I yearn for the days when people were happy to give you change for your bills. Its not like I’m costing them any money… and its not THEIR quarters they are trading in for god sakes… p.s. i finally did get the quarters but the dryer wasn’t working so I’m wearing a wet shirt today… at first its constrictive, but then it becomes a part of you.
SUFFY
I thought i had found the last great artist in Regina Spektor last spring, but now I realize this dude Sufjan Stevens is just as amazing, if not more. His style is very Elliot Smith meets Simon & Garfunkle. This dude is the bomb, and to make matters worse, he is from Holland, Michigan a few miles from my hometown. I wish I would’ve caught him then before he moved to NYC. Here’s a video of his.
WATER CRYSTALS
The human body is made up of up to 60% water. In Japan, there is a doctor who has been photographing water crystals on a micro-scale with really interesting results. Dr. Emoto’s research suggests that by sending different thoughts toward the water as it crystalizes and photographing it in this state, the crystals react to the positive or negative thoughts. Here are some of his photos, and still more here. It could just be a hoax, but I think it’s pretty interesting.
THE STREETS
I uploaded this song for your downloading pleasure.. it won’t be up for long… peep it. It’s The Streets, I love this beat. Hopefully I can get the recording equipment I need to get going with music making again soon, and I will be making music like this, minus the english accent of course.
ODDZBALLZ
I was checking out local graphic designer groups and ran across this site that a local designer has, featuring her little product line called ODDZBALLZ. These things ROCK! It inspired me to create a website and supporting marketing materials for my little ‘ol product ‘Squid Spit’.
NOT YOUR AVERAGE HIT & RUN
My roommate’s car was totaled last night in a hit & run - but this was not your average hit & run. I got the call around 10:30ish from Steve saying he was just down the road and waiting for the cops. I get there and his car is totalled on one side, he’s halfway up a steep 30 yard long driveway into a hotel, and there is a huge gash in the road from metal scraping. The first thing I ask him when I get there is “where is the other car?” and he says its up the hill parked. So I ask where is the other driver, and he says “I don’t know.” The truck that hit him was one of those bigass 6 wheel trucks, and barely had a scratch on it.
The truck had hit my roommate while it was turning, and they didn’t even stop they just kept turning and basically dragging my roommates car for 20 yards or so.
So we had like 3 or 4 cops at the scene trying to figure out what the hell was going on, meanwhile we’re standing out in the freezing weather waiting for probably 1.5 hours. Then the cops find out that the dudes are inside the hotel. It was a room full of drunk dudes who are from Ohio, working in this area on some sort of contract as carpenters or something like that. But of course, they don’t know where their boss is - the driver.
