RYAN’S KAYAK TRIP

Checkout these photos from Ryan’s Kayak trip last weekend. These hardcore river rats even had Kayak-mounted GPS, LOL!
ANNAPOLIS ON BIDNESS
August 29th, 2006

I took these shots of Annapolis today on my way to a business meeting. The Maryland Inn is on Church Circle, which is the main area of downtown Annapolis. I have to say, Annapolis is absolutely beautiful.

BURLINGTON
August 23rd, 2006

I think I may have narcolepsis boatemis - which may or may not be a real latin term for ‘one who falls asleep aboard boats’ - but one thing is for damn sho’, I likes to sleep when I’m on a boat and have been doing so as long as I can remember. I don’t know if it’s the rush of oxygen, or the waves or what but the moral of my story is that I eagerly anticipate falling asleep on the ferry from Burlington to Plattsburgh in October. The End.
NEW ENGLAND, MONTREAL & QUEBEC
August 22nd, 2006

Mary and I are planning a trip to Northern Vermont, Plattsburgh, NY (where my mom’s side of the family is) and Montreal, Canada - possible drive up to Quebec too. One very interesting fact about Vermont is that from 1860-1960 the population remained about the same, around 300,000 people. Since 1960 it has doubled to 600,000, but is still the least populated state per capita.
More interesting facts: In and around the Plattsburgh, NY region many people call their grandmother and grandfather memere and pepere (pronounced mem-ay and pep-ay) which is french. My memere is a native french speaker and I am very excited about the possibilty of visiting Montreal and Quebec, where you might as well be in France.

ROCCO’S MOTORCYCLE
August 15th, 2006

This is the motorcycle my Italian cousin Rocco created. Rocco created this sculpture with spare screw and bolts and it really is quite impressive, especially when you get up close to inspect his handywork. So, I promised him I would try to find a market for his work in America. I found the perfect place to sell his work in Old Town Alexandria, where scupltures like this go for hundreds and thousands of dollars. So I asked the store for information on submitting artwork and thought we were on our way to making Rocco some money. And as it turns out, the very 1st rule the company had was that the artwork must be created in America. Which completely defeats the idea of why Rocco’s sculpture is so unique. So there goes that avenue. I’m still thinking about marketing his work online somehow…
DON’T EF WITH CVS
August 11th, 2006

I saw this at a CVS near Dupont Circle in DC. If this isn’t the most sadistic way of fending off pigeons from your store signage, I don’t know what is. Why not just use a “lighbox” sign instead of the spiked letters?!
