THE CHALLENGES

November 29th, 2006

Ok ok, I know I’ve posted a lot today… but I saw this and just had to post it. This is one facet of my life at work. Developers give me stuff like this all the time, and I have to redesign the interface to make some sort of sense. In some cases an application is so complex and un-intuitive that it takes me days to decipher.

THE WILHELM SCREAM

November 29th, 2006

This clip is frickin hilarious! I can’t stop laughing… In 1951 an actor was called on to record a scream for an overdub in a movie. Since then, the audio clip of his scream has been used by the production company in movies ranging from Star Wars to Alladin. At some point. in the 1970’s a sound designer gave this particular scream the name “The Wilhelm Scream” as an ode to the dialogue used in the original instance.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to enjoy a movie in the theatre ever again… cause I’ll just be listening for this scream.

THE LATE GREAT DANIEL JOHNSTON

November 20th, 2006

After recently watching the documentary “The Devil and Daniel Johnston” I just couldn’t resist purchasing this compilation album titled “The Late Great Daniel Johnston - Discovered Covered.” Here’s a snippet of Beck covering the tune “True Love Will Find You In The End.”

Daniel Johnston is a sort of idiot savant in a sense… a genius song writer who just seems to have never been able to shut it off. In the mid 80’s Daniel was just starting to make it when he basically cracked up and his music has lived on underground and inspired the likes of Kurt Cobain and Beck.

PIEAMIS CHARTARONOMIS

An Annotated History of the Pie Chart - By: Eric Karns

The Pieamis Chartaronomis or Pie Chart as it is more commonly known has been in existence since the time of Ghazwat of the Seljuq (in the time of the fourth crusade.) Originally devised by Nicolas Pieamis to delineate between varying sects of armed Papal divisions as markings in the sand, the Pie Chart proved a useful means of communication to the masses. In time however, it became apparent that the Pie Chart lacked a certain sense of flair whatsoever leading to the 25 Thesis of Liib erace:

Whosoever deemeth the Chartaronomis sufficient in monochrome schema be damned! - Vlahasoo Al Liib erace

This declaration of Thesi posted in Pie Chart form on the footsteps of a public bathhouse in Jebel Dukhan (modern day Umm Saliid, Qatar) was rich in vibrant color and a major shock to the establishment in Constantinople.

Today the Pie Chart continues its controversial graphical representation of information spurring a new form of warfare known as Kinkos vs. Nobody. Probably more virulent and wildly fluctuatory than modern day oil pricing, FedEx Kinkos places a premium on all services printed at highly inflated prices to the detriment of the historic Pie Chart.

For further information regarding the modern day Pie Chart see your local Scientological library.
