I thought I’d attach a few photos I shot with my blackberry (so pardon the image quality)… my desk at my new job, a nearby coffee shop bathroom sign, and Greg McStinzweed (wherein Gregor dons a stash) driving back from the Mexican ristorante last week…

I’m back home for a few days before the start of my new job next week. It’s been one rough winter here in Michigan this year too, reminds me of the good ‘ol days sleddin’ through the woods at Henry Johnson park. It also reminds me of just how freakin’ cold it can get over here. Last night, me, Greg, Ryan and Tone went out to an Irish pub downtown after briefly passing through a newer, more crowded one on Ionia street and just walking a block or 2 was enough to freeze a nose hair or 2. But as John McCain would say “it was worth the trouble my friends.”

I loves me a good mystery. Check out this ‘computer’ from the year 65 BC, that scientists say may have been a moon tracker of sorts. It was apparently discovered in 1900 near Greece in an ancient Roman shipwreck.

I’m in the market for a new pair of glasses again… ever since I cracked the sides of my old pair. And as luck would have it I found an awesome pair of Perry Ellis glasses at the local store which were selling for around $130. So I copied the model number and found the same pair online at go-optic.com for only $80. So for all you fellow four eyes folks, peep the scenario, hopefully it saves you some bucks too.

Well, I decided to move up in the world of blogging today. I will be migrating from Blogger to WordPress. WordPress is much more powerful and should give me more control. For now, until I figure out how to customize templates and make my own designs, I will be using a pre-designed template. You may notice a lot of links not working, and/or broken images etc., and the site might change quite a bit as I learn the tricks-of-the-trade.

This amazing poster by the artist Shepard Fairey, of Obey Giant was plastered all over California last week for Super Tuesday. Man, I wish they weren’t sold out…

The latest news in my never-ending pursuit of ancestral information, I found that our family may be related to the actress Yvonne DeCarlo (pictured above) who has a star on the hollywood walk of fame. I ran into an online board where fellow DiCarlo’s (sometimes spelled De) all originating from Frosolone who were apparently related to this actress. So although it’s unconfirmed it’s a good possibility.

Another little tidbit I discovered was that the name DiCarlo somehow originates from King Charles V of Spain, who reigned around the mid-16th century. Broken down, the name literally means “of Charles”… although I don’t think it necessarily means ‘of’ in blood relation terms… probably more along the lines of being the property of or under the govern of…

Well, It’s been official for a few days now, but I wanted to wait before posting the news. I’ve accepted a new position with an Interactive agency in DC by the name of Virili0n. It will be sad to leave my position with the I*B*M Innovation Center, but I know that this decision is the best thing for my career going forward.

I will be starting in a couple weeks and working as art director. I’m so pumped I can hardly wait to get started. One of the best things about the transition is my commute will go from anywhere between 45 min. - 1hour 45min. to just 10 minutes by metro.

The music playing on my site right now is from Missy Higgins, my aforementioned future ex-wife from down under. Believe it or not, her album was #1 in Australia despite the fact that nobody knows about her here. But this year they decided to release her album in the states. She’ll be in Baltimore in March and I hope I can catch her show.
