WORTH THE RAMADA?

June 19th, 2008

So I finally received my limited edition Obama poster which is of the oh-so convenient dimensions of 23″x40″, which nobody makes frames for. The poster was $70, I got number 895/5000 and some of these are going for $250-$400 on eBay. So I thought I’d get mine framed for posterity. Come to find out, it’s $850 to frame at frickin Michael’s!!!

Luckily a little web scouring and I was able to find www.framesbymail.com, which will make custom sizes in metal or wood for very decent prices.

CLICK TAGS & OPTIONS

March 4th, 2008

I have recently encountered for the first time the MASSIVE headache that is flash banner ad click tag standardization (or lack thereof). Every media vendor (in this case CNN, Fox News, and many local news sites) has a different standard by which the click tags need to be set up and most need backup .gif images as well. There is also the problematic un-standardization of banner ad sizes, both physically and file sizeally.

In non-geek speak, what I am saying is that, for every message a client wants turned into an ad there are umpteen million versions of this message which makes life very tedious for the designer. In my particular case at work, there are just 2 messages that needed to be spread to the media and has thus far taken me 3 days to create the various sizes and standards compliant versions. So in summary…. I charges by the hour SON!

I entered this design into the ZenHabits t-shirt contest… keepin’ it simple - the circle is the Japanese ‘enso’ which is a Zen symbol of the absolute, the true nature of existence and enlightenment.

KARNS EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS

January 3rd, 2008

Click the image above to see the beginnings of my website design for Karns Educational Systems. My dad has been developing lesson plans which I will create educational booklets from and hopefully we’ll find some vocational tech teachers out there who would like to purchase our lessons. There are still some bugs to work out with my flash/html integration, so for now this is best viewed in Firefox.

PORTFIZZLIO

December 18th, 2007

I put together a portfolio site for myself (click picture above) over the last couple days. It’s not finished, but gives a good taste of some of my work. I’m hoping to eventually figure out how to get Blogger to publish to the .swf, which I fear will be either impossible or nearly so. I’m still very new with Flash and would love to be able to make things work exactly the way I envision them, but for now I’m limited to what I can figure out action script-wise.

GRANDPA NICK’S PICKLE STICKS

September 20th, 2007

My step-grandpa, Nick, is the world’s greatest pickler. No doubt about it his pickle sticks rock. So, I made a sticker for him to put on his pickle jars, along with a catchy name for the product. Nick is from Brooklyn and has the coolest accent, so when he says “of course!” it sounds more like “of cowse!”…

OJ’S NEW BOOK

September 14th, 2007

Have you heard about OJ’s new book? It’s called “If I Stole It” wherein OJ reveals how he “WOULD” have stolen the missing sports memorabilia in Vegas. Most shocking excerpt: “I would ‘probably’ squeeze into ridiculously small isotoners, or maybe just to mess with ‘em I would wear those large, foam, #1 gloves!”
