Envisioning Information
By Edward R. Tufte

Edward Tufte presents an amazing range of examples of the graphical display of data. This book is fascinating, I especially love the topographical maps and musical notation.

The Creative Habit
By Twyla Tharp

Twyla Tharp is a world renowned dance choreographer, and her basic angle is that people are not born with talent, it is the product of preperation and effort. This book is like the field guide for creative discipline.

Creative Thinking and Brainstorming
By J. Geoffrey Rawlinson

This is an older book which I believe is out of print, but I got a copy at the library. It’s really one man’s experience with creative thinking in the commercial world, although not specifically for designers.

Curveball
By Bob Drogin

Curveball is the non-fictional account of one America’s worst intelligence failures which lead to the occupation of Iraq (I won’t call it a war.) I don’t want to give it away, but if you thought our reasons for taking down Saddam were flimsy already wait until you read this. It’s such a page turner that I read half of it on an hour and a half long flight.
